Weaving Connection: How Community Gardens Strengthen NYC's Social Fabric

Join us for an evening of inspiration and collaboration as we delve into the vital role of community gardens in nurturing both people and neighborhoods. Taking place at Brooklyn Botanic Garden, our annual meeting will serve as a gathering point for community gardeners, organizations, and stakeholders to exchange insights, foster connections, and explore potential collaborations and partnerships.

What to Expect:

  • A "Fireside Chat" with Council Member Shekar Krishnan, Chair of the Committee on Parks and Iyeshima Harris Ouedraogo, Director of Programs at Green Guerillas

  • A panel discussion with community garden leaders sharing about the ways their gardens strengthen the social fabric of our neighborhoods.

  • Policy updates and immediate pathways for involvement via testimony and outreach to the City Council in support of protections and sustained funding for community gardens

  • A spotlight on our youth interns, opening a portion of the evening for them to lead

  • Delicious food and beverages

  • Opportunities for connecting with other supporters of open spaces and advocates of food and environmental justice
